You Don’t Need Another Business Strategy. You Need to Stop Second-Guessing the One You Already Have.
Sep 24, 2026
Article by Rachael Jencks
I’m going to say something that might make half the coaching industry uncomfortable:
You do not need another business strategy.
You don’t need another content calendar.
You don’t need another funnel.
You don’t need to change your niche for the fourth time this year.
And you definitely don’t need to spend Saturday afternoon rewriting your Instagram bio because you’ve suddenly decided that must be the reason nobody is booking a consult call.
You already know enough to make money as a coach.
The problem is that you second-guess yourself so much that you never consistently do the things you already know how to do.
And if you’re a smart, accomplished woman who is used to being good at things, this is especially frustrating.
Because there’s this little voice in the back of your head saying:
I should be better at this by now.
I know that voice really well because I consider myself REALLY good at figuring things out…
I’m an attorney.
I’m a CPA.
I have an MBA.
I’m a certified life coach.
I have spent most of my life being the person who can figure things out.
Give me a problem, and I’ll research it.
I’ll read the book.
I’ll take the course.
I’ll make the spreadsheet.
I’ll find six different ways to solve it and then analyze which one is best.
That skill has served me incredibly well in my life.
It can also make me ridiculously stupid in my business.
Here’s why…
Smart women are really good at finding another possible answer.
Maybe I need to post more.
Wait. Maybe I’m posting too much.
Maybe I need a podcast.
Maybe I need a new lead magnet.
Maybe my niche isn’t specific enough.
Maybe it’s too specific.
Maybe my offer costs too much.
Maybe it doesn’t cost enough.
Maybe I need to redo my website.
Maybe I should change my messaging.
Maybe I need a better hook.
Maybe Instagram hates me.
And yes, I have absolutely wondered whether Instagram hates me.
There is always another strategy you could try.
Always.
That means you can spend an unbelievable amount of time working on your business without spending very much time actually doing the things that create clients.
I know because I’ve done it.
I wish I could tell you I learned this lesson once and never did it again.
Nope.
I’ve changed strategies. I’ve chased things I thought would be the thing. I’ve spent way too much time looking for evidence that I was doing something wrong.
And I’ve learned that sometimes the smartest thing I can do in my business is stop trying to be so smart and just keep doing the thing I already decided to do.
The Strategy Never Gets a Chance to Work
Here’s what I see coaches do all the time.
They choose a strategy.
They’re excited about it.
They do it for a week.
Maybe two.
And then nothing dramatic happens.
Nobody wakes up to 14 consult calls on their calendar.
Their last Reel got 312 views.
Three people liked yesterday’s post, and one of them was their sister.
They went to a networking event, had four great conversations, and nobody immediately hired them.
So here it comes...
Is this even working?
Am I talking to the right people?
Is my offer wrong?
Should I change my messaging?
Maybe I need a completely different strategy.
And suddenly they’re back in research mode.
They change the offer on Monday.
Rewrite the niche on Wednesday.
Start a brand-new content strategy on Friday.
And by Sunday, they’ve decided their business isn’t working.
Of course it isn’t working.
You haven't done the same thing long enough to find out if it works.
At some point, you have to stop tweaking and start executing.
Confidence Comes BEFORE the Clients
This is the part I think we get backward.
We think:
Once I start getting clients, I'll feel more confident.
Of course you will.
It’s easy to believe your strategy works when people are handing you money.
The confidence you actually need in business is the confidence to keep going before you have that evidence.
Can you publish the post that gets 17 views and write another one tomorrow?
Can you go to the networking event without requiring someone to hire you before you decide it was worth your time?
Can you follow up with the woman who said she was interested but hasn't responded?
Can you invite someone to a consult call without spending 20 minutes trying to word the invitation perfectly?
Can you talk about your offer again when your brain is screaming, Everyone has already heard about this?
Can you keep going through a week where absolutely nothing exciting happens?
That is business confidence.
It’s not thinking every idea you have is brilliant.
It’s not being fearless.
And it’s definitely not knowing exactly how everything is going to turn out.
Business confidence is making the decision and then not spending the next three days trying to talk yourself out of it.
Stop Turning Data Into Drama
You posted and nobody commented.
That’s data.
You offered five consult calls and nobody booked.
Also data.
You went to a networking event and didn't leave with a new client.
Still data.
But we don't like to leave it there, do we?
We have to make it mean something.
See? Nobody wants this.
I’m terrible at marketing.
My niche isn't working.
Everyone else is growing faster than I am.
I knew I picked the wrong offer.
And my personal favorite:
I need to start over.
No, you don't.
You need to look at what happened, decide whether there is actually something to learn from it, and take the next action.
Sometimes there will be something you need to change.
But one post that flopped does not require a new content strategy.
One person saying no does not mean your offer is wrong.
One networking event without a client does not mean networking doesn't work.
And a slow week does not require a business identity crisis.
Sometimes your business doesn't need an overhaul.
Sometimes it just needs another Tuesday.
This Is Why I Created The Money Method™
I created The Money Method™ because making money as a coach doesn't require knowing every possible business strategy.
It requires five things:
CLARITY. Know what you're selling, who you're helping, and what you're working toward.
CREATE. Create your plan instead of consuming everyone else's.
COMMIT. Make the decision. Then stop reopening the decision every 48 hours.
MANAGE DISCOMFORT. Because putting yourself out there can feel awkward. People will say no. Some people won't respond at all. You'll wonder whether you're doing it right. You need to know how to keep going anyway.
CONSISTENT ACTION. Talk to people. Create conversations. Make offers. Follow up. Repeat.
Notice what's not on that list.
A perfect website.
A viral Reel.
Another certification.
A 37-step funnel.
None of those things are required for you to make money as a coach.
But you do have to become a woman who can decide what she's doing and keep doing it long enough to create a result.
What If You Weren't Allowed to Learn Anything Else?
Try this.
Imagine I banned you from learning anything new about business for the next 30 days.
No new courses.
No new freebies.
No new strategy podcasts.
No changing your niche.
No rebuilding your website.
No deciding on day eight that you've suddenly discovered the real problem.
You have to get clients using only what you already know.
What would you do?
I bet you have an answer.
You'd talk to more people.
You'd tell them what you do.
You'd follow up.
You'd make offers.
You'd create content about the problems your clients are actually experiencing.
You'd invite people to work with you.
You'd stop spending four hours changing a Canva graphic that 63 people are going to see anyway.
You'd do the things that actually create clients.
And that's the point.
The problem was never that you weren't smart enough to figure out how to build your business.
You might actually be smart enough to make it way more complicated than it needs to be.
Your next level probably isn't hiding inside another strategy.
It's on the other side of trusting yourself long enough to execute the one you already have.
If You’re Thinking, “Okay...This Is Me.”
I made something for you.
