Angela M. Smith is a New Zealand author and coach who writes books on self-esteem and resiliency for 3 – 8-year-olds.

Her children’s books are used in classrooms worldwide and help children learn about healthy boundaries, resiliency, and how to value themselves.

Alongside her children’s books, Angela is a wellness and self-love expert. During her coaching sessions, she draws on the information from her award-winning series Stepping into Love for Adults, teaching them how to embrace self-love and how to live a vision-led life.

What kind of work do you do?

I’m an intuitive healing massage therapist; wellness coach and expert on self-love, and author of words that uplift your heart and soul.

What inspired you to get started as an entrepreneur?

My writing career came about after a stressful interaction with one of my five-year-old son’s teachers. Upset, I rang a trusted friend and asked her what I should do. “You need to write a book,” was her response. By the end of that day, the first draft of my very first book, I Love Myself, was written. To this day, I write empowering books for adults and children to give them a voice. I have since added motivational guidance and coaching into the mix of what I offer to empower and uplift.

What was your biggest struggle to get things going for your online business?

My business is both online and in person and I’d say my biggest struggle was marrying up my self-worth (or lack of) with what I knew my capabilities to be.

Was there a time you thought about giving up? What kept you from quitting?

There have been many a time when I have thought about quitting but I’m strong-willed and vision-led and so quitting is not something that I adhere to.

What have you learned since beginning?

To remain true to yourself, and the more authentic you are, the more your audience will find you.

What’s the best advice you’ve received?

Focus on your mindset and the rest will take care of itself.

What advice would you give someone just starting out?

Know that you were inspired for a reason. Be led by that reason whenever you are doubting yourself or feel like giving up.

What’s the professional win you’re most proud of?

The nine books that I have self-published.

Which book(s) would you recommend to help entrepreneurs with success and personal development?

My award-winning Stepping into Love – a journey to self-healing book.

Do you have a routine that you attest to your success? If yes, what is it?

I work on my mindset throughout the day and remind myself of my bigger vision and how this will impact those who need my services most.

How has social media played a factor in your success?

Social media has both led my clients to me and led me to some brilliant mentors who without them, I wouldn’t be the person I am today experiencing the success that I am.

What are the biggest social media mistakes you see commonly made?

Those mimicking others rather than remaining true to themselves.

What is the business tool that’s been most helpful?

Excel. When I keep track of my accounts and up to date, my energy is lighter and clearer. Likewise, acting on intuition immediately has led me to success. When I have ignored it, opportunities have passed me by.

Is there something you wish everyone knew?

Yes. I’d love everyone to know how lovable they are, and that they are a unique piece of the puzzle that makes up the greater whole. The world would be poorer if they were not in it.

What’s coming up for you in the next few months?

I am a regular podcast guest, and several amazing interviews are set to be released.

What has being successful taught you?

That I am greater than my fears and worthy of success.

What are some fun facts about you?

I once met and talked with Goldie Hawn at an ashram in India!

I ordered an offset print run of 3000 books for my first children’s book. At that time I had zero dollars in my bank account and had to hustle like mad to be able to pay that almost $8k invoice within seven weeks!
