What kind of work do you do?

I am a social media content strategist and creator. I help my clients market their personal brands on their social media platforms with ease by mastering my signature relationship marketing system.

What inspired you to get started as an entrepreneur?

The burning desire to start my own business happened while I was at my Corporate America 9 to 5 realizing that I did not feel fulfilled anymore. Although I had done very well for myself climbing the Corporate ladder, I felt that I needed to invest in myself to become the person I really wanted to be. In other words, I made the decision to invest in my own personal growth to find my purpose and it definitely did not have Corporate America in the equation. Being an entrepreneur was the answer, therefore, I just decided to go for it!

What was your biggest struggle to get things going for your online business?

Having to balance working a 9 to 5 plus balancing being a mother and all at the same time showing up for my business was extremely challenging. I worked 8 hours of the day at the office and at night invested in my online business. That was my biggest struggle at first and it led me to set up a system that would identify my most important activities so that I could preserve my energy to serve my clients.

Was there a time you thought about giving up? What kept you from quitting?

I wanted to give up plenty of times. I remember running my very first discovery calls and never closing them. I also remember spending hours creating content for my social media and not getting any traction. I was frustrated and felt defeated. I never had quitting as an option. I did rest and took breaks to recharge so that I can get myself up because I knew in my heart and I still do today, that I have an important task which is to support and impact as many people as I possibly can to show up for their purpose just like I did and succeed with their online business.

What have you learned since beginning?

During this journey, I have learned that everything takes time and that being an entrepreneur is not a one size fits all. When you make the decision to invest in yourself to get better at your craft, I have realized that it is important to respect the process. I have also learned that it is critical to embrace your authentic self and not get intimidated by all the content you see others posting on their social media.

What’s the best advice you’ve received?

My mom's advice of reminding me to always stay humble and grounded is what I embrace every single day. As we develop more skills and mature during our journey, it is important to remember where it all started.

What advice would you give someone just starting out?

Give yourself grace if you are just starting out. The road ahead is not going to be easy but every action you take is super important. If you feel like you failed, know that you did not. You experienced something and learn from it so that you get better at it next time or make the decision not to do it again.

What’s the professional win you’re most proud of?

When Facebook reached out to me 3 years into being in business to invite me to apply to speak at their Facebook Boost your business event in my local town was truly the proudest moment of my entrepreneurial journey and I will never forget it.

I was so excited to receive the confirmation email advising that I was selected to be one of the speakers and for me, this is the professional win I am most proud of.

Is there a book you’d recommend to help with success and personal development?

The very first book that I read once I made the decision to invest in my personal development was The Universe has your Back, by Gabby Bernstein. It truly shaped my perspective and was a great start to my burning desire of wanting to find my purpose.

Do you have a routine that you attest to your success? If yes, what is it?

I had no other choice but to be super strategic and efficient with my time while working my Corporate job and building my online presence and as a result had to embrace my calendar. Blocking time for specific activities and having the self-discipline to follow through each and everyone of them is what I absolutely attest to my success.

How has social media played a factor in your success?

If it wasn't for social media, I would not have a business today. From the start, social media has been super important for the growth of my personal brand. I have used it to meet other amazing entrepreneurs and also reach my clients.

What are the biggest social media mistakes you see commonly made?

It can get overwhelmed being on social media. In fact, I got burnt out very quickly when I first started using my platforms to present my business. I had no choice but to take a step back to see where I was marketing only because the only return I was getting was exhaustion and no income. I see so many making the mistakes of wanting to have multiple platforms active fearing that they might be missing opportunities if they are not there. It's best to focus and master content development on 1 or 2 main platforms and expand later.

What is the business tool that’s been most helpful?

Canva is my number one business tool. It is super helpful and takes away the frustration of finding creative ways to design content.

Is there something you wish everyone knew?

I wish everyone knew that the more they show up as themselves and share their stories the better. So many are afraid to open up and be authentic thinking that their voice needs to be like everyone else. The more we embrace who we are and show up naturally with the intention to serve, that is the best decision.

What’s coming up for you in the next few months?

I am excited to launch my own TV network streaming on Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and Roku TV. This network is being built by entrepreneurs, for entrepreneurs sharing stories, education and strategies all about being an entrepreneur.

What has being successful taught you?

Being successful taught me that it is not about me but about the people I serve and impact everyday. Receiving messages, emails, comments acknowledging that I actually made a difference in someone's life is success for me.

What are some fun facts about you?

I am addicted to peanut M&M's! I don't know what it is about this yellow bag but you will always find one around me!
