business coach danielle abbott entrepreneur growth personal development transformation women in business work Mar 10, 2021

From Danielle:

I have 20 years of Leadership and corporate training experience in sales, banking and healthcare industries. I live in Maine with my husband, 2 bonus teenage sons and almost 3-year-old daughter. When I am not doing the momma thing or helping my clients, I am reading, finding the beach, or using my creative brain to refinish furniture or create some art work. Oh, and I LOVE Halloween, Wine and anything to do with WATER!!!

What kind of work do you do?

I am a transformation Business coach helping women build the confidence, gain the clarity and make the connections they need in order to grow their business and be able to finally leave the grind of the corporate world.  I also run a Leadership Development business which focuses on training and education for employees and leaders to help engage, retain and motived employees. Kind of contradicting I know, but I understand entrepreneurship is NOT for everyone, so my goal is to make you SUCCESSFUL in anything you choose. If you want to be your own CEO…. Excellent let’s get you there. If you want to Become the CEO of your company…. Awesome we can work on that too!

What inspired you to get started as an entrepreneur?

Honestly, this is in my blood, but maybe I tried to resist it for so long. I come from a long line of entrepreneurs My mom had her own Nursery school, and now is an artist and reiki practitioner, my father has is own contracting business which was my grandfathers before that, and will be my brother’s in the future.  My sister had her own card business, and I always worked in the corporate worked from the age of 19 I was a leader, coach and motivator. I had no idea I could do this on my own? If I am honest, I never though I would be doing it on my own, until one day someone I know reached out to me and asked if I could coach them on a specific topic one-on-one... and well the rest is history! I began my coaching career because I really wanted to help individuals reach their goals and LIVE their passions!

What was your biggest struggle to get things going for your online business?

Knowing the different skills, I would need to learn or dust off. Like Project Management, Facebook business pages and groups, scheduling tools, oh and don’t get me started on Instagram.

Was there a time you thought about giving up? What kept you from quitting?

I am not sure I ever though about giving up, but there are times where I felt like slowing down. It wasn’t until I started studying the moon cycles when I learned this was normal and have found ways to allow it, and continue to grow my business.

What have you learned since beginning?

There are clients for everyone, just because there are other people doing what you do, doesn’t mean there are not clients that will connect with you more over someone else. People need choices, continue to show up and be one of their choices.

What’s the best advice you’ve received?

“It’s none of my business what other people think of me”

What advice would you give someone just starting out?

Nothing great happens in your comfort zone, or overnight! You must be willing to widen your comfort zone or stop out of it... and PATIENCE!!!

What’s the professional win you’re most proud of?

I think I am proud of every step I have taken, but If I have to pick one, I would say working with a client who never even had Facebook and bringing her to a place where she used her artistic skills to launch a custom card business (Online) and have been going strong and growing each month over the last 10 months! AND in less then a year into my own coaching business I was able to finally leave my 9-5!

Which books would you recommend to help entrepreneurs with success and personal development?

“Start with the WHY” By Simon Sinek, you can use these lessons to build your products, get clear on your mission and form relationships

“Year of the Yes” By Shonda Rhimes, this book really put things into perspective, and if you have a hard time saying NO to things that done serve you.... this is a must read!

Do you have a routine that you attest to your success? If yes, what is it?

I think my routine changes often, Afterall isn’t change the spice of life. But what is consistent are my must have things! These things might look different in different seasons of my life or my business, but they all show up in some way.

  1. Self Care – I am the most important person to me, above my husband and kids, yes you heard me... call me selfish, I’m ok with that (see the best advice I ever received answer). If my cup is not full, I cannot serve, it is that simple!
  2. Decent bedtime, usually 10pm or earlier. Knowing that I am most productive before noon, means I need to get my rest in in the evening hours not the morning hours.
  3. Its ok to treat and reward yourself. (maybe you call it bribery). Enjoy the chocolate, have wine for dinner, buy the overpriced pants that make your butt look good!
  4. Do one thing that scares me each week. (working up to each day). I tell my clients when your scared.... it means your ready, ready for a change, ready to push forward, ready to commit!!!!

How has social media played a factor in your success?

We are so connected in this day and age, everyone looks to social media for advice, recommendation, news, pick me ups. Being on social media has allowed this girl from a small town in Maine to be connected to people all over the world.

What are the biggest social media mistakes you see commonly made?

Not being genuine, be YOU. Don’t pretend to be something you’re not. There is nothing worse than thinking you are connecting with one type of person online, only to find they are totally different once you actually connect. I think there is a country song about this lol

What is the business tool that’s been most helpful?

Ok I might be super old school here, but I still love my excel spreadsheets to track everything! But I am also in love with TRELLO, I keep everything here, Place social media, I use to for my coaching clients, even track my own professional development and courses I have taken.

Is there something you wish everyone knew?

I wish everyone knew just how awesome, valuable and needed THEY ARE!!!!  How each person has a message that someone needs to hear!

What’s coming up for you in the next few months?

In April I am kicking off my 12-week Program “Building the Foundation to Leave your 9-5” This program focuses on my 3 pillars of Confidence (mindset work), Clarity (AGGG what am I doing), and Connections (not only for sales)

What has being successful taught you?

That anyone and everyone can have success, we are not born with the skills, but we can LEARN the skills! Also, Patience, be patient, it can and will happened for you!

What are some fun facts about you?

I’m obsessed with Halloween!  I love wine! I could eat tacos or nachos every night for dinner (I don’t, but could). I was considered geriatric when I was pregnancy since I was over 35! Who came up with that term!! And I am a SUPER CONNECTOR… when someone needs, wants, has questions about something I am usually their go to…. Not because I have all the answers, but because I 90% of the time, will be able to connect them to someone with the answer! I love building connections for people.
