From Craig:

I'm Craig Jerome. I'm 45 years old. I'm happily married and have 3 amazing children. I live near Bournemouth on the south coast of England. I am a Wealth & Business Coach and Property Investor. My corporate career was 25 years in wealth management and as an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I have held senior roles for several multinational banks. I have developed 150+ people.

What kind of work do you do?

My company 'Seventeen Wealth Ltd' specialise in Wealth Creation. We typically work with entrepreneurs and forward thinking individuals who want to build their wealth to six-figures and beyond and create time freedom. We do this through strategic, structured programmes. I'm a big believer that pretty much everyone can achieve wealth.

What inspired you to get started as an entrepreneur?

I had wanted to be an entrepreneur for some time and during a very difficult period in my corporate job at the end of 2019 I had an epiphany moment and decided that it was now or never. It was important for me to build something for my family.

What was your biggest struggle to get things going for your online business? I think the hardest thing has been setting up my systems and processes from scratch. Having worked for companies until now everything is set up and ready to go and processes nailed down. So that has taken a lot of time and effort.

Was there a time you thought about giving up? What kept you from quitting? There have been a couple of times, particularly through the Coronavirus pandemic. The children have been off school for months and although it's been great spending time with them it has restricted the amount of work I could get done. What has kept me going has been my desire to help people and to build something for my family and I and give us a better quality of life.

What have you learned since beginning? I've learned that there's a lot of people out there doing some great things and there is so much knowledge around. You just have to tap into it.

What’s the best advice you’ve received? I think the best advice has been to stay in my lane and concentrate on what I'm doing. With so many other things going on it's really easy to get distracted and chase the shiny penny.

What advice would you give someone just starting out? Be very clear on your proposition and what you're offering and ensure that you have a clear idea who your ideal client is.

What’s the professional win you’re most proud of? I think in terms of this business, it's been keeping going when so many businesses have closed and people have struggled and feeling that there are so many people I can help.

Which books would you recommend to help entrepreneurs with success and personal development? My favourite is 'Rich Dad, Poor Dad, by Robert Kiyosaki. That's the one that really made me think and changed things for me. Although it's a few years old now, so much still applies today.

Do you have a routine that you attest to your success? If yes, what is it? I do. I work from home so I try to ensure that my working environment is conducive to working effectively. Things are in the right place and tidy and I'm in the right frame of mind. I try to work smarter not harder.

How has social media played a factor in your success? Yes, it has. I really see it as my shop window and social media is so powerful in allowing us to market our services and grow our brands. It's absolutely vital.

What are the biggest social media mistakes you see commonly made? I think it's important to be consistent in terms of content and branding. If you are clear who your ideal client is its possible to target them and speak their language.

What is the business tool that’s been most helpful? I personally love 'Linktr.ee'. It's really useful and enables everything in terms of services to be found in one place and makes it so accessible.

Is there something you wish everyone knew? I wish they knew about the work that goes on behind the scenes to make things happen and also how powerful the internet is in business and building wealth.

What’s coming up for you in the next few months? I'm currently growing my client base and refining my proposition. I'm always learning and looking to improve what I'm doing. It's a very exciting time!

What has being successful taught you? That anyone can have freedom from the corporate world and the opportunity to do things their own way and build something for themselves.

What are some fun facts about you? My first love was tennis. I played professionally and was close to making it to Wimbledon a couple of times. I lived in Sydney, Australia and did a lot of surfing. The culture is great there. It really appeals to me. Oh, and I love potato chips! (maybe too much).
