Charmaine is a true believer that everyone has their own magic and helps her clients harness their own magic to use it to create the business and life of their dreams!

What kind of work do you do?

I am in the business of serving others. In all my businesses there is a way to serve the people of my target audience. In my thrift store, we have a free rack and bin that anyone can grab from. That’s crazy I know, but we have seen so many in need smile at the opportunity to grab from the free section and while helping those who can not afford to shop normally is one achievement we also lessen waste by attracting the repurposing crowd. With my coaching, I am able to empower others who have dreams of freedom and owning their own time no matter what the reasoning behind the aspiration, I am there to pick them up when they fall, guide them, and even teach them my strategies. I am a very strategy based business coach and I use that approach for mindset and manifesting as well. It is a bit of a different approach but I have found my clients feel the way I set it up they can see before they truly believe.

So thinking about what kind of work I do… I would say my work revolves around making positive life-changing impacts on those who need me.

What inspired you to get started as an entrepreneur?

This can be a tough question. If I am honest my childhood did. My mother told me in elementary school if I wanted something that costs more than $100 dollars she would only pay for half of it as a gift for my birthday. I would see my little brother get the things he wanted and craved the same. So I did just that, saved and earned pennies were I could. I remember having a long list of things that were to be done in the home for $5 a week. But I also remember the 1st thing I bought with that money and still own it, an iPod 64 GB video. Now fast forward to my parents’ separation in my 7th-grade year, I was to buy anything I wanted even school-related items, so I did just that sold things I made online. I got smarter in highschool and hired others to sell candy and handmade jewelry for a commission and I realized I made more money than most did at minimum wage full time at the time. It felt amazing and the dream was born! I never gave up the dream of being my own boss, but as I grew older my calling changed. I wanted to help others who were stuck as I once was, help them live their best life!

We connected through our passion to ensure that entrepreneurs and customers who hire coaches are actually hiring someone who will uplift them, help them as an individual, and not cause more harm than good. For someone looking to hire a coach, what advice would you give them?

Do your research! I mean really do your research ask others about them, watch them, read their testimonials, and reach out to previous clients. And make sure you get on a call before you hire a 1:1! I also would advise against following the money braggers. Just because a coach is making huge sales numbers according to their posts does not mean they can guide you to get the results you desire. Trust your gut and don’t mistake unalignment for fear of investing.

We are both major advocates for mental health. What do you want to tell coaches out there about how to best help clients who have a mental illness?

Unless you are a licensed doctor don’t give medical advice; however, you can be an ear and shoulder. I feel like these can be rocky waters and boundaries have to be put in place to protect not only ourselves but our clients. I have found techniques that can ease depression and anxiety, but I would never make a medical claim or deter a client from seeking medical professional help. I would say ensure both you and your client know where you stand and keep the line of communication open.

What changes would you like to see in the coaching industry?

Can the drama stop please! LOL, I say this partially joking at the same time seriously. I have met so many badass coaches in this industry, but I have come across some drama producers. I would like everyone to put their big boy/girl panties on and learn to treat one another with respect, chuck this notion of competition out the damn window, and act like damn adults. There are enough clients to go around and no one’s opinion is factual law, so I wish everyone could just come together and realize that amazing fucken things can happen if we could all be adults, love, and respect our differences and likenesses, and uplevel together!

What’s the best advice you’ve received?

“Just be yourself!” Absolutely best thing ever said to me! I see so many including myself lose themselves in trying to achieve this idea. The idea of what they should appear to be, have achieved, be focused on, how they should sell, what they should sell, etc. Let me tell you “THROW THAT SHIT ON A ROCKET AND SEND IT TO MARS! EARTH DOESN’T HAVE ROOM FOR THE BULLSHIT!” I say that with love. You are amazing so stay true to yourself! Follow things that feel right and success will follow!

What advice would you give someone just starting out as an entrepreneur?

Stop thinking about it and just take action! I think most starting entrepreneurs overthink way too much. Even if they started they stop themselves from growing because they stop themselves from taking action. It is better to take imperfect action not and smooth out all the bumps over the next 5 years than with 20 years to become what you feel is an expert and finally start taking action.

Is there a book you’d recommend to help with success and personal development?

Oh man, it’s so hard to choose! My thoughts go to ‘You Are a Badass’ by Jen Sincero. I have reread it multiple times and get something different each time. Overall her way of writing when she wrote it open the doors to professionals not hiding parts of themselves because it was not the norm to be different. It is an easy read for those who find it hard to finish a book.

Do you have a routine that you attest to your success? If yes, what is it?

My routine is flexible and when I have tried to have a strict routine it just made me feel stressed and like a failure. I will say having a strong morning and night routine is key to waking up ready to conquer the world and go to sleep feeling amazing which will slide right into your next morning. As a mom, I found splitting up parts of the house to the same day each week made the task less time consuming as I got more used to it. I have used this strategy with my business. I have certain things I am to accomplish each day. So my routine may not be daily but I have a similar day each week unless life throws me some curveballs, but thanks to my flexibility that no longer stops me.

How has social media played a factor in your success?

It has been the main point of growth, client building, and peer connecting. Without social media, I am not sure how I would be able to grow multiple businesses organically. I can not even say who my tribe would be. I am hugely impacted by who I surround myself with and my best people are halfway across the world most times but definitely not local to me that is rare. I am so grateful to social media because it opened this door for the common person to be seen and reached globally and massively!

What are the biggest social media mistakes you see commonly made?

I see so many people forget that it is called social media for a reason. The common person goes on social media to be virtually social we do not go on hoping to be cold messaged 20 times a day and seeing the same advertised picture 20 times on different peoples’ profiles. Remember personalized posts even personalized sales posts speak to those on social media better than those spammy methods so many are using on social media. Be a person and be social on social media.

What is the business tool that’s been most helpful?

Canva. Hands down the better I got at creating graphics on their the more I loved it. I am able to use it for all my businesses to make graphics cover photos and even my logo.

Is there something you wish everyone knew?

I wish everyone knew that they can not serve everyone. I can’t stress enough that your people will love you, follow you, and be loyal to you. But if you try to speak to everyone then no one will hear you. Think of it as if you said one sentence and each word in your sentence was a different language. Who would actually understand what you said? This is why niching down is important. It is like speaking only in one language, but that doesn’t mean you won’t serve those who speak another language, it just means you target one specific audience and if others funnel in the door is open. So much wasted time and frustration can be prevented if we all just focused on speaking to our niche.

What’s coming up for you in the next few months?

The next few months are quite exciting for me. I will be a part of a collaboration of 100 other coaches that will funnel into an amazing new year summit. I am co-hosting a Motherhood Redefined Retreat Virtual edition that will transform into a mother membership with a subscription box for moms. I will be launching a VIP group coaching upgrade low-ticket monthly membership group Magic Boss Moves, for all those entrepreneurs struggling to start, grow, and scale their online businesses. My team and I are working out details to fix up my youtube channel to be able to have a text version blog by the end of 2020. Lastly, I will be relaunching a revamped version of Business Builder Boss Academy, my signature program that contains all the must-haves for anyone trying to start and scale an online business organically.

What has being successful taught you?

Being successful taught me to listen to my intuition and not give up just being it’s getting tough. I hope others will do the same, I believe too many of us give upright on the other side of success and never realize it. If I can do it so can you!

What are some fun facts about you?

Some fun random facts about me, well let’s see…

I have been obsessed with the color purple since I was old enough to watch Barney. I am the biggest anime nerd ever! I read and even write fanfiction religiously. I am the biggest skeptical spiritual person you’ll ever meet. I am a certified Disney addict. I speak Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, and English. I am a mother to a 7-year-old boy on the spectrum and 3 girls ages 6 4 and 3 all with the personalities of teenagers. I am very blunt and love arts and crafts.
