Meet Amanda Keene... Brand Identity Graphic Designer
Oct 28, 2021Hi there! I'm Amanda Keene, a graphic designer specializing in visual brand identities for female entrepreneurs. I started "adult life" by going to college part-time and finally (after 9 years, ugh) obtaining a semi-undesired B.S. in Information Technology (2010). I also served 12 years in the Delaware Army National Guard, deploying to Germany for training missions (2004,2005); Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina (2005); and overseas to both Iraq (2009) and Afghanistan (2013).
Why or how the transition to graphic design?
After 10 years in corporate life, I yearned for something more meaningful in life, and some FREEEEEEDDOMMMM!! <yes, insert Mel Gibson in Braveheart>
With the help of an awesome business coach, I re-discovered my love for graphic design (something I did in my high school days and literally my job during deployment to Iraq; hello Universe!), plus my passion for empowering women to become independent.
BOOM - Amanda's Design Services was born.
What kind of work do you do?
Graphic and Brand Guide Design for Women Entrepreneurs
What inspired you to get started as an entrepreneur?
Freedom from a 9-5.
What was your biggest struggle to get things going for your online business?
Getting over the fear of reaching out to potential clients and having a solid mindset!
Was there a time you thought about giving up? What kept you from quitting?
Not yet, but I'm only in my first year, LOL.
What have you learned since beginning?
Mindset is SUPER important; without it, everything else is moot.
What’s the best advice you’ve received?
Asking yourself, Are you more committed to the struggle than your vision?
What advice would you give someone just starting out?
If it wasn't easy, it wouldn't be worth it (and everyone would be doing it).
What’s the professional win you’re most proud of?
Launching my first summit this year!
Which book(s) would you recommend to help with success and personal development?
The War of Art by Stephen Pressfield; have yet to read the follow-up Turning Pro.
Do you have a routine that you attest to your success? If yes, what is it?
Yes; I Flowdream, take a nature walk with my dog, and practice my version of Sun Salutation yoga to start my day.
How has social media played a factor in your success?
I see social media as an avenue to share content with my audience (and potential clients), but I don't rely on it for my business.
What are the biggest social media mistakes you see commonly made?
Posting random stuff without thought or strategy behind it (guilty). This is an area I need to improve on!
What is the business tool that’s been most helpful?
Even though it's been hard to look past the cost, having a Virtual Assistant help me with certain things has been SO helpful and allowed me to concentrate on what only I can do.
Is there something you wish everyone knew?
Branding is SO much more than your logo and color palette (and I can help with that!)
What’s coming up for you in the next few months?
The launch of my first summit, Brand Breakthrough, and really just seeing what happens from there!
What has being successful taught you?
Success is in the eyes of the beholder.
You’re the creator of the Brand Breakthrough Summit, what inspired you to put this together?
The mandate from my business coach. HA, just kidding! She does highly recommend them, so I'm giving it a try to see if it would be beneficial for growing my business.
What do you hope summit attendees walk away with?
A renewed sense of purpose for her business, a new resource or coach to help her where she's at, and a graphic designer for her business visuals. ;)
How can our readers participate in the summit?
Sign up at: amanda.design/amandarose - interviews start releasing on November 9th

What are some fun facts about you?
I am the spouse of a loving and devoted fresh-water angler, a step-mom to two teen boys, and a fur-mom to a Beagle named Nemo. We love going camping; I spend all day in the hammock reading.
I was also in the Delaware Army National Guard for 12 years, and deployed both to Iraq (Baghdad) and Afghanistan (Kandahar).
