Leslie Gaudet is a Mindset and Emotional Awareness Coach who helps her clients push through their fears by taking a deeper dive into their mindset and their beliefs so that they can make better decisions in their responses to their emotional triggers which helps promote healthier relationships with themselves and with others.  She also advocates for Getting into Your Story so that you not only let life happen for you but you are actively engaged in the living, and experiencing of your life.

What kind of work do you do?

I work with women who want more for their life but are finding that they have mental blocks that hold them back or that have them self-sabotaging what they are trying to achieve.  I work closely with my clients and start with mindset work and lean into taking a closer look at the belief systems that they have either created for themselves or that have been passed down and they have adopted as their own.  In this process we look at these beliefs in place and get curious around them by asking deeper level questions to get to the root of the What (the Fear of) that really has them stuck and the How to start moving from a limiting belief into a more empowering one by surrounding themselves with supporting evidence to support that new belief.  Really, it’s helping them build a solid emotional foundation so that they can then become more self-aware around their thoughts and feelings that are being influenced by their beliefs and in turn which are dictating their words and actions that have been in control of them.  I show them that there is a way to take back that control and that’s going deeper than they probably have ever before.  This process works.  I’ve done it myself and I’ve taken women through it, and it’s been lifechanging.

What inspired you to get started as an entrepreneur?

I’ve always wanted to do more with my life, but I never really knew what that was or what that could look like.  I didn’t really start thinking about it until I started feeling the pains of working really hard in the job that I had chosen as my career life-path.  I had been a Legal Assistant/Paralegal for almost 25 years when I started really wanting to slow down my life and to start living my life and having fun while doing it.  However, the job I was doing was literally sucking the life out of me.  My life revolved around work which left little time for me and my husband to spend quality time together and for going out and enjoying my life as a whole.  I started to feel a bit off, and I knew that if I didn’t make changes in my life, that I might not be here much longer on this planet.  When I finally realized that it was up to me to make changes, that’s when I started to look outside and around and started seeing what could be possible for me.

What was your biggest struggle to get things going for your online business?

Great question!  My biggest struggle that I had to learn to overcome so that I could start seeing success and start actually living my life in my purpose and having a purpose of showing up every day was for me to stop chasing all of the “rabbits” down every rabbit hole because I was signing on for every webinar, program, and coaching program that was coming across my feed because I really didn’t have clarity on what I wanted for my life and so I said yes to everything hoping I would find that “magic pill” that would solve everything.  All that did was overwhelm me and overextend me because my calendar was overflowing with things that really didn’t align with me and who I was becoming because I didn’t truly have that deeper connection to my Why that gave me purpose to show up every day leaning into my What

Was there a time you thought about giving up? What kept you from quitting?

Oh my gosh!  Another great question.  Yes, for sure I had thought of giving up because I was burning myself out fast by saying yes to so many things that really just had me doing “busy” work and so I was stuck on my own hamster wheel and couldn’t for the life of me get off of it to start doing things that really mattered and that were in alignment with my purpose.

What kept me from quitting was when I woke up one day and realized that it was the way I was thinking that was holding me back and that I was getting in my own way and so I went on my mindset quest to figure out how to start really dialing in my thoughts that would empower me rather than hold me back, and that is why I have incorporated mindset work into my coaching practice.

What have you learned since beginning?

I’ve learned to ask for help and to not think that I have to do everything by myself and that only I have the right answers to what I need.  I’ve learned the importance of surrounding yourself with the right people in the spaces that you need them to support you so that you can have that place to go to, those people to ask when you don’t have all the answers and need support.

What’s the best advice you’ve received?

I think that the best advice I’ve received thus far is that I don’t have to fit into a box because I’m a Coach.  I can forge my own path and create a space around what I do.  I’ve also learned that self-worth comes from within and that no one is more qualified to tell me my worth but me.

What advice would you give someone just starting out?

I think that the best advice that I would impart would be this.  Do what you love for you first; not for anyone else but you, because even though you want to lean into your passion so that others in your life benefit, it has to be something that you love so much that you will keep at it and do the things that you need to do to move the needle daily (even if only one small simple step every day) because it’s not easy but when you have that deep connection with the Why you are doing your What, it will keep you motivated to keep at it even in the moments you don’t feel like it, don’t feel inspired or feel like giving up.

What’s the professional win you’re most proud of?

Well, right now I’m going to be a published author in a book that is launching on September 21, 2021.  The book is called Becoming An Unstoppable Woman and it’s a book that I am extremely proud to be a part of.  I’m co-authoring it with 24 other amazing women from all over the world and we’re sharing our stories of struggles and triumphs all meant to encourage, support, uplift and inspire women all over the world to be brave and give themselves permission to step outside of their comfort zone into living their best life.  This is really more than just a book.  It’s a movement and we want women to know that we are better together when we are connected and supporting each other in life.

Which book(s) would you recommend to help with success and personal development?

Of course, I recommend Becoming An Unstoppable Woman.  Some other books that I absolutely love are:

I really have a lot more books that I have gathered in my Kindle collection as well as Audible but I thought I would share the above five books because they talk about resilience, self-love, self-worth, healthy relationships, and never giving up on yourself.

How has social media played a factor in your success?

I started getting really confident in myself when I allowed myself the freedom of going live on Facebook and really seeing the impact that I was having on people’s lives.  I had many people reaching out to me to get connected and so over a short period of time, I went from just 100 connections to now almost 1700 connections with close to 1000 followers and this is just on Facebook.

I don’t take that lightly and so what I have been doing is going back through these connections and taking a deeper look at and reaching out to see how we can build on being connected because right now we are living in such a virtual space that this is one of the easiest and hardest ways to get to know someone because it’s instantaneous in messaging back and forth and looking at each other’s profiles to get a closer look at who we are.  Facebook has also allowed me to find those clients and have those connections with them.

Another platform that I have been really leaning into getting more connected on is Clubhouse.  I’m absolutely loving it and have started a club called Exploring the M.E.S.  M.E.S. stands for mindset, emotional awareness, and self-love.  I’ve been running my own rooms now as well as participating in other rooms and getting to know some incredible people and building some truly amazing friendships.

What are the biggest social media mistakes you see commonly made?

I think nowadays people really are not liking the whole friending you and then ending up in your DMs pitching you their products without asking anything about you or showing that you want to get to know them.  I prefer that someone who friends me on Facebook asks about me and builds a real connection.  I like to do the same.  I just find that that is more authentic and real when you can do that.

What is the business tool that’s been most helpful?

I absolutely love Trello!  It keeps me organized.  Plus, I absolutely love my Google calendar.  I wasn’t always a digital calendar user.  I wanted to be able to see it right in front of me but what I have found most useful and user friendly is that I can move my things around and I can schedule out weekly repeat meetings without having to write everything down in a day planner.

Is there something you wish everyone knew?

Yes!  There is no “magic pill”.  There is no one-size fits all.  You have to learn to do things that align with who you are and what your mission is.  What works for me in running my business may not resonate with someone else and that’s okay.  The beauty of being an entrepreneur is that you get to choose how you run your business with the tools you use and your strategies.  They have to align with you, and they have to be something that you will absolutely do when needed and not feel obligated to do which may take you out of alignment and make you want to quit.

What’s coming up for you in the next few months?

As I had mentioned earlier, the book Becoming An Unstoppable Woman launches on 9/21/21.  There is a book tour associated with it starting in Los Angeles (October 1-3, 2021), then onto Las Vegas (October 8-10, 2021), next in Miami (March 10-13, 2022), and finally in New York (March 24-27, 2022). I am hoping to make the Miami and New York dates.  I live a nomadic lifestyle where I live in different places for a few weeks to a few months at a time.  I’ll be traveling down to Mexico in November for 6 months and so timing is still up in the air for which part of the tour I will be able to take part in.

I also am looking at some speaking engagements that are not yet set in stone, and I will be speaking at the Becoming An Unstoppable Woman Summit in December of this year.

What has being successful taught you?

I believe that success comes in many forms.  I’m not only going to be a published author in a book, but I’m also a writer for an online global magazine (Brainz Magazine) since the beginning of this year.  I truly believe that when I started giving myself permission to be brave to step outside of my Safe Zone (where I don’t take any action but stay miserable) into my Uncomfort Zone (which is a space I get quiet and listen and take note of what’s being revealed to me even going to far as getting curious around my fears of things that used to hold me back or that pop up now and again), and then finally to step into what I like to call the Unknown Zone of Possibilities (which is where the magic happens because this is where I take inspired action (one simple step at a time) and celebrate every time I complete something).

What are some fun facts about you?

I’m a nerd when it comes to movies.  I love to watch sci-fi, action, adventure, comedies, love stories, period pieces, true stories, and the old black and whites.  When I was a kid, I used to ask my mom if I could watch movies with Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, Danny Kaye, and Cyd Charisse, just to name a few of my favs.  The common theme here is musicals and the dancing was spectacular!

I’m also into rock music.  My favorite band is Rush and the reason why I love them so much is because their music takes me to another level.  I just close my eyes and let the music transport me to another time and place.  It’s magical.
