What kind of work do you do?

I work a full time job as an auditor for a LARGE medical insurance company.  But that certainly isn’t my passion.  My passion is the business I started in 2020, the Gifted Gypsy.  We are primarily Facebook based.  We create jewelry and gemstone trees using healing stones.  We like to say we make intentional jewelry that create a bubble of light around you.  We also create Oil blends, bath salts, room sprays and cleansing sprays.

And I say We or Us a lot because, after I launched the Gifted Gypsy , after a couple months in, I asked my best friend Melissa if shed like to partner with me.  And at that time we redesigned the logo to make it fit both of us.  I am the elephant and she is the butterfly.

What inspired you to get started as an entrepreneur?  I kinda fell into it actually.  I made a few earrings for myself and was proud at how they turned out.  Then I posted them on facebook and several people would message me asking me to make them a pair.  So after I did that multiple times, I realized this is something I could market.

What was your biggest struggle to get things going for your online business? Business has always been good for us, you may think that is hard to believe but I honestly cannot complain or think of a time when I feel like we were struggling to be seen.  My struggle hasn’t been with social selling at all.  My biggest obstacles have been with the balancing of home life and work.  I am ALWAYS working.  If I am not physically working with my hands then I am networking, making connections or planning or something geared towards the Gifted Gypsy.  I struggle with managing my time for home stuff, like cooking, cleaning and splitting up myself so everyone feels their needs are being met.

What have you learned since beginning? Oh I have learned so MUCH!!  I have learned about social selling through business groups I am in, I have learned about caring for people, and how it actually brings me joy to give give give.  I have learned so much about myself during these last two years.  Personal and Business.  I have pushed myself out of comfort zones in order to grow.

What’s the best advice you’ve received? Set boundaries

What advice would you give someone just starting out?  Learn to make connections with people verses just making a sale.  It is much more valuable.

What’s the professional win you’re most proud of? Anytime, someone feels moved enough to show case my artwork on their news feed or even go Live to show off what they purchased.  I LOVE seeing how happy people are with my artwork.

Which book(s) would you recommend to help entrepreneurs with success and personal development? The Power of writing it down by Allison Fallon, and The Four Tendencies by Daniel Amen

Do you have a routine that you attest to your success? If yes, what is it? I do have routines set up I suppose.  I didn’t really think of them as routines until you asked this question.  I am mindful of the content I use on my social media news feed.  I don’t like to clutter up my feed with jokes or funny things or junk posts.  I keep my feed, maybe two a day, for my business posts or little peeks into things so my viewers can get to know me.

Then my stories is primarily where I share things that I find funny, or off putting, ALONG with business items, things I create.  Funny tiktoks, sometimes I post me talking to my story watchers and I am constantly being thankful on both my feed and my stories.  I feel that is important to recognize people who share their time with you.  I like to acknowledge that and be thankful.

How has social media played a factor in your success?  Facebook, primarily is my main source of sales.  It allows us to be able to connect with like minded individuals far and near.

What are the biggest social media mistakes you see commonly made?

People not branding themselves.

People not making connections, its just cold and impersonal.

People not using their profile like a store front, not being “Open for business”. Or having their profile set to private.  These are all things that will halt the growth of your business.

What is the business tool that’s been most helpful?  SOCIAL MEDIA!!!!

business building groups, and being a part of certain vendor groups.  Just using social media in general though  to advance in yourself AND in your business.

Is there something you wish everyone knew? OH MY GOSH, cold messaging is a pain in the @$$!!  Just don’t do it!!!

What’s coming up for you in the next few months? I will be working on revamping some things internally with my partner.  From pricing to adjusting our cards we put in our orders.  Plus I have a few personal goals I want to work on for 2022, remember those boundaries I mentioned earlier?  Putting more boundaries into practice.

What has being successful taught you? I don’t feel I’m there yet.  I read these words as someone who has made it…. They have accomplished their dreams and are ready for their next adventure.  I’m not there yet.  I’m still in the learning process.  I may not ever feel completed.  I am not sure what my business outline looks like right now because I am still finding out things.  Finding me.  Still growing.
